MILFORD SOUND!

Alright, so morning rolled around pretty quick and our goal was to be out of the motel and on our way to our Milford Sound cruise thing before nine. The drive there was a few hours long and we definitely did not want to miss the ferry. So yet again we had another jumbled slightly hungover morning getting rotating through the shower and getting that Sassin Saab packed. Somehow we managed to make it out by 9:30, if I remember correctly. Not much happened until we started driving into the mountains as we
approached Milford Sound. Once we got into the mountains then there were little pull off areas that we could go and look at some cool things.

Headed toward Milford Sound

One of the things we saw was something called the Mirror Lakes. There water was very still and you could clearly see the reflection of the mountains in them.

Just wanted to show how clear the water is.

Well after some driving and scenery we finally made it to Milford sound with some time to spare. It was another one of those moments where I got out of the car and the view about knocked me on my ass. It was incredible. I was a bit hung over but once my eyes met the sound the hangover was practically all gone ( I wish I could say the same for Autumn, this day was a bit rough for her, Queenstown took some out of her).  So we went into the harbor and checked in. Then we anxiously waited to board the ferry and enjoy the world class scenery.

Our little ferry!

Hahahahaha . . . we were cruising

Some loser seals that kicked out of the breeding grounds or something like that. (No relations to Andre if I remember right)

Little bit better as far as my hair goes :)

SO, the cruise was about 2 1/2 hours. We drove through the sound and out to the Tasman Sea then turned around and headed back to the little harbor. The scenery was literally unbelievable. It was one of those times where you look around and you swear you were in a dream. One of those "this isn't happening" type of moments. I could not stop looking around and drinking it in the entire ride. I could add more photos but I think they would get a bit repetitive, plus I think I would get carried away and wouldn't now when to stop.
But the cruise ended and we went back to the Saab talking about the beauty of the trip the entire way. We got back the Saaby and made some PB & J's to calm ourselves and fill our stomachs still in ah of what we just got to see. After the PB&J's (our staple meal) we headed out of the sound and back towards Queenstown. The road to Milford sound was a one way trip so we had to head back to Queenstown in order to get on the road to our next destination (Fox Glacier).
It was dark as we left the mountains and headed into Queenstown. Once in Queenstown we grabbed a bite to eat and hit up the market to re-up on some goods. We also hit up the McDonalds to charge and hit the internet for a bit. After that we once again aimlessly drove towards the glaciers trying to find a place to stay. We found a place that would be satisfactory and set up camp. We jammed ourselves into the tent again and put an end to another delicious day. Date 4/13/12 (13/4/12). I may add to this as I was fairly brief about the cruise and I may have missed some stuff.

Leaving Milford behind us

Forgot to add that we saw some Kea's as we left through the mountains. Kea's are a native New Zealand parrot. You can feed them (even though your not supposed to) and they get pretty close. Kea's are pretty big birds as well.
